Volunteer
"I love libraries and always wanted to work in one. Can I volunteer to work in the library?" This is our most frequently asked question. Spruce Grove Public Library does not use volunteers to do work that is performed by staff. However, there are excellent volunteer opportunities at Spruce Grove Public Library. Our volunteers fill a very important role in enhancing and complementing library service through their donation of time. The Library has two completely separate streams of volunteers, Friends of the Library and Volunteers that perform duties within the daily routine at the Library. Pick up an application form at the Library or download it now . If you have any questions please contact the Library at 962-4423 or library@sprucegrovelibrary.org

Just Because:
Why make a donation to your public library? Just because…
- you remember the childhood magic of picture books from the library
- you got to read every Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys book ever written without having to spend your allowance
- you managed to get your report on rockets done for your Grade 8 science paper at the last moment, only because you got help from library staff
- your small business uses the library for research and other products and services without having to purchase those resources
- you have read every best seller published in the last 3 years without having to buy them (just like the Nancy Drew days)
- you can find CDs of all the performers you heard at the Folk Music Festival
- your investment club researches stock information at the library
- you watch videos from the library on cold winter evenings
- Why make a donation to our public library? Just because it's given you so much - and just because you can.

Donate In Person

Grow Your Library
Lois Hole is Alberta's 15th Lieutenant Governor. An avid supporter of libraries and of the contribution they make to learning, literacy, personal development and recreation, she has graciously agreed to give her patronage to this program. From her spirit and passion come this invitation to make a donation, or make a donation to honour a person or event, through this program which builds and strengthens our public library resources.
Your donation supports and enhances the books and other materials that make up library collections. 100% of donations from the Lois Hole Library Legacy program are used to purchase library materials.
A bookplate will bear the name of the donor and/or honouree.
An acknowledgement will be sent to those in whose honour a donation is made, or - in the case of memorial donations - to their families.
Donors receive tax-deductible receipts for their gifts, in keeping with Spruce Grove Public Library’s policy on receipting donations $10 and greater. Ultimately, as with all gifts to the library, the value of the gift may prove incalculably larger.
Donate in Person
You are welcome to support the Lois Hole Library Legacy program in person at the Spruce Grove Public Library.
Staff will be happy to assist you in participating in the Lois Hole Library Legacy program, and will provide you with a donor handbill to accompany your donation.
All forms of payment are accepted, and tax receipts are given for donations of $10 and greater.
If you wish to direct your donation to a specific branch and wish to have a bookplate honour your donation, you may do so by completing the appropriate section on the donor handbill.
You may designate your donation for purchase of children's material, non-fiction, music and video, multilingual, fiction, large print or talking books. Again, these options are available on the handbill. Donation Form.
Planned Giving
You can help ensure an excellent public library in our community for generations to come by leaving a bequest in your will, a gift of life insurance or through creation of a charitable remainder trust.
Planned giving allows you to support your library now and in the future. Planned gifts may be made at any time during your lifetime or through your estate. Please talk to your financial planner and/or legal advisor who can help you with the process of creating your own legacy of ongoing library service in our community. It is an excellent way to support your library while maximizing tax benefits and personal financial goals.
Matching Gifts
Matching gifts are a very important source of funds for non-profits. If the company for which you work has a matching gift policy it is an easy way for you to make a donation that will double in size and in impact. We do not currently have available a list of companies that have matching gift programs, however we are at work on compiling one. Please check with your human resources or personnel department to see if your mployer will match your gift. If your company does have a matching gift program we would appreciate it if you would Please let us know.
Once you've determined whether your company matches gifts, your human resources, personnel or community relations office should have company-specific information and matching gift forms. In addition to employees, some companies match gifts from spouses, retirees and directors. Some companies also match volunteer hours with a donation; once again a check with your human resources office should let you know if your employer participates.
