Ask A Question

The Ask A Question Virtual Reference Service provides digital reference service to Albertans in the public library sector as well as to registered students, faculty and staff of fifteen post-secondary institutions in the province. The service is provided collaboratively using software that was developed at Grant MacEwan College.

Initiated by the original collaborating institutions, Grant MacEwan College, NAIT, and Red Deer College, the project received financial support in January 1999 from the Alberta Learning Knowledge Network Fund.
Subsequent funding received from The Alberta Library Emerging Projects Grant in May 2000 and in June 2001 not only enabled the addition of twelve academic libraries to the project but also made further development of the system possible.

The Alberta Public Library Electronic Network (APLEN) contracted the Grant MacEwan Learning Resources Centre to adapt the software for implementation in the public library sector in October 2001.
